Refresh Your Home for Spring – An Entire Spring Decor Breakdown
So here I am… all ready to write this post about spring decor and feeling all “Spring is in the air!!” I was going to write it yesterday but it got put off until today…
And I woke up to a yard covered in snow with my car blocked in. In fact, there’s currently a snow plow out there right now. The one thing I’m holding on to is the fact that Cape Breton weather is as bipolar as a college freshman. It’ll be summer next week. (Fingers crossed anyways!)
Just like winter decor, I love subtle touches. I like to create a vibe, a feeling. With spring decor, I like to create a vibe, a feeling. And I feel like a lot of places get over looked. It’s not just having a bowl of lemons on your kitchen table and some flowers on the windowsill… think! Entry ways, bathrooms, your mini bar, coffee tables…
Let me really break it down for you

Overall, these are the touches I like to have throughout the house:
Flowers – Call me basic but I love some fresh flowers. I switch it up for every season but for spring I love some tulips, maybe some carnations with the stems cut short in little glasses for window sills and bathroom counters. And white or pink roses. Here’s where you can brighten up with florals or plants
- Kitchen table
- Coffee table
- Entrance table
- Bathroom counter
- Windowsills
- Desk
- Bookshelves
- Bedside tables
A fresh scent – You may like diffusing essential oils, or maybe those things that plug into the wall from Bath & Body works, but for me, I love candles. A fresh scent for spring, AND a new candle can always add to decor. A large chunky one for coffee tables, cute little guys for beside the bed. Here are some that have me sooo ready for spring/summer
Rewined candles are my favourite! Have you tried them? Every scent is named after a type of wine, with the notes in that candle being inspired by the notes in that wine. I haven’t met one I don’t love (The sauvignon blanc smells like fresh mowed grass and is another spring fave!). They’re also made from recycled wine bottles. How cute are those jars!?
Okay, now let’s break this down by room…
Bedroom
I feel like this one often gets over looked. This is the perfect chance to:
- Switch out those sheets to a crisp white
- Brighten up with a new duvet cover
- A romantic floral scent
- A light throw
- Some fresh throw pillows
- And of course, flowers for the bedside table
Bathroom
Another that gets over looked. I love a small jar of flowers on my bathroom counter. And subtle touches can really bring spring into your home
- Switch out the hand soap/lotion dispenser
- A new bathmat – think dusty rose or sky blue
- Hand towels – to match that bathmat
- Towels – I’m a nazi when it comes to how my towels are displayed. I don’t care if they’re not even getting used. My towels have to match the theme going on with everything else in my bathroom.
- Shower Curtain
Mini Bar
My favourite. You guys, when it comes to your mini bar, it’s not just wine glasses and top shelf vodka. Spruce it up with touches like…
- Cocktail books
- Straws
- Coasters
- An ice bucket
Living Room
Currently, with the new place, we do not have a coffee table. But when we did, it was my favourite thing to decorate. I had this huge tray I loved and gorgeous coffee table books. Every now and then I would switch out flowers and candles. Your living room is usually the first or only place your guests see, so make sure to put some love into it. Switch up:
- Throw pillows
- Blankets
- Plants
- Bookshelves
Kitchen
This can usually be the first thing that gets attention. Here, I just love to clean. Complete clean out cupboards. Add of course, more flowers. If your mini bar is in your kitchen, tackle that first. Other things to update:
- Table cloth if you use one
- Placemats
- Fruit bowls
- Vases
- Dish towels
