Anti-inflammatory Golden Smoothie
I kind of stumbled upon this golden smoothie by accident and it was just so damn good, I had to bring it to the blog. Lately, most days, my smoothies are relatively the same. Some protein, greens, flax, almond butter, almond milk… I haven’t been straying too far from that.
But I love the anti-inflammatory aspects and most importantly, the flavour of golden milk. One morning I just threw all this stuff in the blender, hoping for the best, and oh em gee. It turned out so freaking good. I’m hooked. You may have seen this on my instagram stories a couple times but I figured I should bring it to the blog.
For those who might be unfamiliar with the health benefits of turmeric and curcumin (the main active ingredient in turmeric), they can act as an anti-inflammatory and also an antioxidant. It’s also known to help delay signs of aging…. and I can totally get on board with that!
Okay… I’m not like most bloggers. I can’t tell my entire life story and somehow make it suit a blog post for a golden smoothie recipe. So I’m just going to get right into it from here…
Golden Smoothie
+ 1 serving vanilla protein powder**
+ 1/2 frozen banana
+ 1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
+ 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
+ 1/4 tsp ground ginger
+ pinch black pepper
+ 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Toss everything in the blender and blend away!
* * Make sure to read the label for the serving size of your protein powder. Some brands are 1 scoop, some are 2. I use Arbonne’s Vanilla protein. It’s vegan and doesn’t make you bloat!
Also, make sure not to skip the black pepper! This helps to activate the properties of the turmeric and you’re going to want the health benefits.
What’s your favourite way to incorporate turmeric? If you have a recipe, leave the link in the comments so I can check it out!
