Woodland Themed Birthday Party
The best part about 1st birthday parties is that we, as moms, get to decide on the themes and decor. I mean, let’s be real here. The first birthday party is really for us anyways.
Emmett turned one last week and this weekend we hosted a woodland themed birthday party. I’m sure next year, or at least by the time he turns 3, we’ll be looking at plastic table cloths with his favourite Disney character’s on it…
This little party was so fun to put together and was so easy. Honestly, easier than I expected. I found almost everything I needed on amazon or at the dollar store. And I even included a little Trail Mix Bar which everyone seemed to love. So I thought I’d share all the deets!
I’ll be linking everything I used with amazon affiliate links to make it easy for you guys to shop all in one place!

The Decor
What’s nice about doing something more rustic, is that you can be a little messy and it looks better that way.
For the table I used these little toy animals, a bag of preserved moss, and plastic trees. You could also toss in some twigs, rocks, pinecones, etc… just gather them from your yard! I had these little shelvesΒ that I use to organize my cupboards so I just took those out to use to tier the items on the table. I laid the moss over the corners and through the gaps in the shelves which ended up giving almost the effect of moss covered rocks.
The Banner
For the banner I grabbed a roll of burlap, some acrylic paint, and twine. I cut the burlap into even-sized rectangles, cut a little triangle in the bottom to give the look I wanted (pictured above), and then painted the letters on with acrylic paint. I wrote “Wild One” to go with the woodland theme. The twine was super easy to weave through the burlap to hang. And voila! This ended up being much easier than I expected.
The Details
I love a detail! Here’s what I used:
+ plaid paper cups (I also found the matching napkins!)
+ glass milk jars
+ birch paper straws
+ black cutlery
Trail Mix Bar
This was so fun to put together and everyone loved it! I just grabbed some paper bags, rolled the tops down, and filled with our favourite snacks (Well, Lily’s favourite snacks). Your typical trail mix stuff can get pretty pricy (and can we be honest here? No one really enjoys eating trail mix) so I just grabbed a bunch of random snacks like; mini marshmallows, pretzels, Boom Chicka Pop popcorn, peanuts, gummies, cinnamon Chex, and m&ms. I got these handy little scoops and some takeout containers so everyone got to leave with a box of snacks.
Treat Bags
Yes, even though the only kids at this party were my own (thanks covid), I still wanted to do treat bags. To go with the woodland themed party, we did s’mores! We just got these small white paper bags and tossed in a couple graham crackers, a jumbo marshmallow, and a piece of chocolate. We decorated the bags by hanging wooden tags on them. (To be honest, I didn’t love the ones I used which were found at the dollar store. But I found these cute ones on amazon!)
